Odisha government to provide monthly incentives to aided college principals
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved the scheme to motivate faculty members to lead institutions in remote or distant areas.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a proposal to provide monthly incentives to Principals-in-charge of government-aided private colleges in Odisha, according to Kalinga TV.
The scheme will benefit approximately 641 Principals-in-charge across the state's 488 and 662-category private aided colleges. The state government expects to spend about Rs 6 crore annually on this initiative.
Under the new rules, those posted in developed urban areas or within their own district will receive Rs 5,000 per month. Principals posted outside their home district will get Rs 7,000 per month.
For those serving at institutions more than 300 km from their home district or residence, the incentive will be Rs 9,000 per month. A monthly payment of Rs 10,000 will be provided to those in geographically remote and inaccessible areas.
Chief Minister Majhi stated that the move aims to inspire faculty to accept leadership roles in far-flung locations to maintain the teaching-learning process in higher education. A committee will determine the specific criteria for remote postings.
The decision will come into effect once the relevant notification is issued.
