The Barkhetri Revenue Circle has issued a 15-day eviction notice to occupants of Kaorekhaiti village in Assam’s Nalbari district, according to The Assam Tribune.

The notice, dated November 2, identifies 1,243 bighas of encroached government land. This includes 743 bighas of Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) land and 500 bighas of general government land.

The revenue circle office stated that this action is being taken to comply with directions from the Supreme Court. The notice specifies that all such illegal occupations must be cleared in line with the court's instructions.

Occupants have been directed to vacate the land within the 15-day period, with the notice warning that legal action will be taken if they do not comply.

Copies of the notice have been shared with the village head and revenue officials to ensure the public is aware of the proposed action.
