Second Indian national dies after Riyadh airport attack

The death toll from the October 10 strike on King Khalid International Airport has reached 14.

The death toll from the October 10 attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has risen to 14, according to The Times of India. This follows the death of a second Indian national who had been receiving treatment in an intensive care unit (ICU).

The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that the victim, whose identity has not been released, passed away in the ICU. The embassy stated it has been in contact with the family and will assist with arranging a funeral in Riyadh or the repatriation of the remains to India based on their wishes.

At least 11 Indian nationals were injured during the strike. An update from the embassy on October 23 noted that seven Indians had been discharged, two were in general wards, and two remained in the ICU.

The first Indian fatality was Mohammed Yousuf Ali, who had his funeral in Riyadh on October 12. Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation initially reported 12 deaths and 309 injuries in the attack.

Saudi Arabia has blamed Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels for the strike, though the group has not officially claimed responsibility. The attack occurred amid an escalation of strikes on Saudi infrastructure during the conflict in Yemen.
