The Parsa East and Kanta Basan mine was recognised by the ministry of coal for its performance in mining, safety, and environmental management.

The Parsa East and Kanta Basan (PEKB) coal mine in Chhattisgarh, operated by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUN), has received a 5-star rating award from the ministry of coal for the financial year 2024-25, according to The Times of India.

Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey presented the award to RVUN CMD Devendra Shringi and officials from Parsa Kente Collieries Ltd. (PKCL).

The ministry conferred the award in recognition of the mine's performance in mining operations, safety standards, environmental management, and community welfare.

The PEKB mine serves as a key fuel source for thermal power stations in Rajasthan, which have a combined generation capacity of 4,340 MW.

Coal supplied from this mine is described as playing a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted power generation across the state.
