Tamil Nadu registration department collects Rs 1,950 crore in October
Minister D Logesh Tamilselvan reviewed revenue growth and launched an AI application to monitor court cases during a performance meeting.
The Tamil Nadu registration department collected Rs 1,950 crore in revenue during October 2026, according to reports by Urban Acres and The Times of India. This figure represents an increase of Rs 147 crore compared to the Rs 1,803 crore collected during the same month last year.
Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration D Logesh Tamilselvan chaired a state-level monthly performance meeting on Wednesday to review these figures. Tamilselvan directed officials to address revenue leakages and ensure the department achieves its annual fiscal targets.
Before the meeting, the minister launched an artificial intelligence application for the legal wing of the department. The tool is designed to monitor cases in the Supreme Court and high courts, help officials draft counter-affidavits on time, and improve legal follow-up processes.
The minister also highlighted the progress of the presence-less registration system launched on August 17. As of November 3, the system had processed 2,46,260 documents, including payment receipts, Memorandum of Deposit of Title Deeds for financial institutions, and primary sale deeds for apartments and plots.
Tamilselvan instructed district registrars to resolve bottlenecks causing pending registrations. He further directed that applicants must receive their registered documents on the same day the registration occurs.
The review meeting included Commercial Taxes and Registration Secretary J Kumaragurubaran, district registrars, special deputy collectors, and assistant executive engineers.
