Sajjan Jindal likely to lay foundation for second Bengal unit in January

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the JSW Group chairman discussed investment opportunities in power, ports, cement and steel.

Industrialist Sajjan Jindal is likely to perform the bhumipujan for his second unit in West Bengal in January 2027, according to The Economic Times.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Wednesday that he had a concrete discussion regarding investments with Jindal at Nabanna, the state secretariat in Kolkata.

The two leaders discussed investment opportunities across power, power systems, ports, cement and steel, though specific details of the investment remain unknown.

Adhikari said he urged Jindal to engage in ITI skill training and work in close coordination with West Bengal government hospitals. The Chief Minister added that Jindal will also conduct the renovation of some temples.

This meeting marks the first time Jindal has met Adhikari since the Chief Minister took office.

In 2007, Jindal's JSW Group signed an agreement during the Left Front regime to set up a Rs 35,000 crore integrated steel, power, and cement complex in Salboni, West Midnapore.
