South Central Railway runs special train for stranded Kazipet passengers

The move follows the diversion of four long-distance trains due to rail traffic disruptions caused by Cyclone Murasu.

The South Central Railway (SCR) arranged a special train to assist 1,226 passengers stranded at Kazipet after Cyclone Murasu disrupted rail traffic in parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, according to The Hindu.

Four long-distance trains, including the Jogbani-Erode Amrit Bharat Express and the Indore-Kochuveli Ahilya Nagari Express, were diverted via Kazipet to bypass Vijayawada as a safety precaution.

The Secunderabad Division managed the stranded travellers by placing 278 people on the Secunderabad-Guntur Golconda Express, while a special service was run from Kazipet to Vijayawada for the other 948 passengers.

Catering services were made available at Warangal, Ramagundam, and Jammikunta stations during extended halts, and an unscheduled stop was provided at Kurnool City for the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin special train.

General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava praised the staff for their response and stated that night patrolling has been increased, with extra watchmen monitoring water levels at vulnerable bridges.

Separately, SCR held a Digital Life Campaign 5.0 camp at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, on Wednesday to help retired employees with Digital Life Certificate submissions and pension grievances.
