CD Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel Alameda died on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after suffering injuries during a Spanish second division match, according to The Hindu and Sportstar.
The 30-year-old player was involved in a collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono at the Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez stadium. The incident occurred towards the end of the match while the teams were tied at 2-2.
Spanish media reported that de Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest and was resuscitated. He was taken to Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital and placed in intensive care, but Tenerife stated his condition had worsened neurologically before his death.
Owono, an Equatorial Guinea international, was sent off and the match was subsequently abandoned. Spanish police sources told AFP that an investigation into the incident has been opened under judicial supervision.
De Miguel joined Tenerife in the summer of 2025 from Castellon and helped the team gain promotion to the second division. He began his career with Leganes at the youth level.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) postponed Tuesday's Copa del Rey and Copa de la Reina matches as a gesture of respect. UEFA announced that a minute's silence would be held before Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League matches this week.
