Supriya Sule may get Cabinet berth if she joins NDA, says Athawale

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale claimed the Baramati MP could be included in the next Cabinet expansion if she joins the ruling alliance.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale claimed on Wednesday that Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule could be given a position in the Union Cabinet during its next expansion if she joins the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

According to Moneycontrol, Athawale made these remarks during a press conference in Thane. He stated that her joining the alliance would be welcomed and would be a matter of joy.

The Republican Party of India (Athawale) president also said that NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar could have become the President of India if he had joined the ruling alliance in 2019. Athawale noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sharad Pawar share good relations.

Athawale mentioned that although Ajit Pawar had appealed to Sharad Pawar to join the NDA, the latter did not accept the offer. He added that if the NDA loses the 2029 general elections, the party would congratulate Rahul Gandhi and accept the people's verdict without blaming electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Regarding the EVM debate, the minister said his party has no objection to using ballot papers for elections. He also noted that the machines were not introduced by Prime Minister Modi.

The minister expressed hope that drought-hit farmers in Maharashtra would receive financial aid before Diwali. He also called for an impartial probe by Thane police into the murder of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar.
