Flash flood alert issued for Bhadradri-Kothagudem in Telangana
Heavy rainfall exceeding 200 mm has triggered flood warnings in eastern Telangana districts.
A flash flood alert is in effect for Bhadradri-Kothagudem in Telangana after parts of the district and neighbouring Khammam saw rainfall levels surpass 200 mm, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued heavy rainfall warnings for several states on Wednesday, November 4, including Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu-Puducherry, and South Interior Karnataka, as reported by The Economic Times.
In Telangana, the IMD has flagged a moderate flash flood risk in certain watersheds, specifically in Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, and Suryapet. Heavy rain is expected to continue in Bhadradri-Kothagudem over the next 24 hours.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations. The IMD has warned of moderate flash flood risks in parts of Bapatla, Eluru, Guntur, Krishna, NTR, and Palnadu districts.
The weather warnings follow the crossing and weakening of Cyclonic Storm Murasu along the south Andhra Pradesh coast. The IMD has advised fishermen to avoid the westcentral Bay of Bengal and the Andhra Pradesh coast due to rough sea conditions.
In Chhattisgarh, light to moderate rainfall is expected at many places, while Kerala and Tamil Nadu may see heavy showers at isolated spots. Authorities have urged residents in low-lying areas to follow local instructions.
