Telangana applicants to take learner's licence test from home soon
The state Transport department is preparing to roll out an AI-enabled testing facility through the Centre’s Sarathi portal within a week.
The Telangana Transport department is preparing to launch an AI-enabled facility that will allow applicants to take Learner’s Licence (LL) tests from their homes, according to The New Indian Express.
Transport Commissioner K Ilambarithi told TNIE that the initiative will be piloted across the state in a week. The system, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), will allow candidates to use a computer or laptop for the examination.
To prevent malpractice, the system will use facial recognition and webcam-based authentication. Candidates must log in with their application number, password, and date of birth, after which their live image will be matched with their registration photograph.
The verification process includes liveness detection where candidates must smile and blink five times in front of the webcam. The system will terminate verification if more than one face is detected or if it identifies photographs or prerecorded videos.
The examination will be conducted via the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) to prevent access to other websites or applications. Applicants who fail facial authentication after the permitted attempts will need to visit a Regional Transport Office (RTO) for verification.
Successful candidates can download their Learner’s Licence PDF, which will include a QR code. Those who secure the required marks will have their applications automatically approved, while others will be referred to authorities for scrutiny.
