Telangana woman returns from Muscat after BRS leader's intervention
Tuppudu Lakshmi expressed gratitude to K T Rama Rao after he helped her return from Oman following a job fraud.
A woman from the Kodangal constituency of Telangana has returned to India after being stranded in Muscat, Oman, according to ANI. Tuppudu Lakshmi, a resident of Gokafasalwad village, met Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday to thank him for his assistance.
Lakshmi had travelled to Muscat on February 27 to find work for her family. However, she was allegedly given different work than what the agent had promised. Her employer, identified as Kafeel, reportedly seized her passport and refused to let her return to India.
The agent who arranged the travel allegedly stopped answering calls and demanded Rs 2 lakh to facilitate her return. Lakshmi was also unable to communicate with her family after her SIM card and Wi-Fi were disconnected, though she eventually reached her son, Raju, using a neighbour's internet.
Raju approached K T Rama Rao on September 29 to seek help. The BRS leader reportedly assured the son that he would recover the passport and secure her return within one month. K T Rama Rao then wrote to officials to intervene in the matter.
After reuniting with her family, Lakshmi expressed her thanks to the BRS leader. She stated that K T Rama Rao fulfilled the promise made to her son to bring her home within a month and said she would not forget his help for her family.
