Priyansh Arya vows to keep pushing after Emerging Teams Asia Cup snub

The Delhi batter expressed gratitude despite being overlooked for the upcoming tournament in Muscat.

Delhi batter Priyansh Arya said he will keep pushing for opportunities after being omitted from the Tilak Varma-led squad for the upcoming Emerging Teams Asia Cup. According to the Times of India, the tournament is scheduled to be held in Muscat from October 18-27.

Arya, who plays for Punjab Kings, is competing for places against batters such as Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The Delhi batter noted that he does not feel unlucky and is grateful for what he receives.

The southpaw recently scored 199 in just four first-class matches. He also recorded the third-best strike rate in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at 211.62, trailing only Sooryavanshi and Finn Allen.

Speaking on his ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Services at the Air Force Complex Ground in Palam, Arya said the wicket is very good. He noted that the ball seams in the first session when there is moisture but the wicket gets harder in the second session.

Arya mentioned that Delhi coach Vijay Dahiya motivates him to aim for outright wins rather than just three points. He added that red-ball cricket is very important for a player's development.

The batter will next participate in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy starting from November 14, with Delhi's first match against Jammu and Kashmir in Indore.
