Bhu Bharati portal not yet fully operational in Telangana
The Revenue department continues to use modified Dharani software as the new integrated land management system undergoes development.
The Bhu Bharati portal, designed for integrated land management in Telangana, is not yet fully operational, according to The Hindu. Almost a year after the government issued the gazette notification for the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Act, 2025, the platform has not provided complete services for land transactions.
The Revenue department is currently relying on the previous Dharani software, using modified modules to meet current requirements. While senior officials stated that certain issues with the Dharani portal, such as the difficulty of submitting several grievances within one application, have been fixed, the system still faces server crashes due to transaction loads.
A senior official told The Hindu that the development of the new portal is in advanced stages. Most modifications required by the Bhu Bharati Act have been completed and released for public use.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC), which previously maintained the Dharani portal, is now developing the new system. The portal is expected to become operational following multiple testing exercises.
Landowners currently face issues regarding mismatches between actual land extent and official records. Although the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government held a Land Record Updation Programme, these discrepancies remain, making it difficult for Revenue Department officials to rectify errors after field visits.
A legal expert noted that farmers are being directed to submit grievances through Mee Seva centres despite ongoing complaints. While a pilot project to accept physical applications received a positive response, the process has been paused.
