Como coach Fabregas urges humility after record Champions League win over Lens

Head coach Cesc Fabregas told his players to remain grounded following a 9-1 away victory in their debut Champions League season.

Como became the first away team to score nine goals in a UEFA Champions League match after defeating RC Lens 9-1 on Wednesday, according to reports from The News Mill and Sportstar. The victory marks three wins in four matches for the club during its debut season in the competition.

Head coach Cesc Fabregas emphasised that the team must avoid becoming overconfident following the high-scoring performance. Speaking to ESPN, Fabregas said the result was excellent for the fans and young players, but insisted the squad must remain modest and continue working hard to avoid believing the job is finished.

Tasos Douvikas scored a hat-trick with goals in the 7th, 32nd, and 57th minutes, bringing his total to six goals in the tournament. Other scorers for Como included Nico Paz, Lucas da Cunha, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Mattia Liberali, Martin Baturina, and 18-year-old Matteo Papaccioli.

Ruben Aguilar scored a consolation goal for Lens in the 65th minute. The win moves Como to fourth in the league phase standings and maintains their position in fourth in Serie A.

The club has scored 19 goals across four Champions League matches, which is second only to Paris Saint-Germain's 20. Como currently holds a goal difference of +13, while PSG holds a goal difference of +15.
