Telangana's D Laxmi Siri enters third round of tennis tournament
Siri defeated Tamil Nadu's P Mridhula in the women's singles event held at the Cosmopolitan Club in Bhimavaram.
D Laxmi Siri of Telangana secured a place in the third round of the women's singles event at the Sify AITA men's and women's tennis tournament. Siri won her match against P Mridhula of Tamil Nadu with a score of 6-4, 7-5 on Thursday, according to Telangana Today.
The tournament is being held at the Cosmopolitan Club in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. In the women's singles second round, Danica Nirmal Fernando of Maharashtra defeated Ananya Shibasini Ramesh of Tamil Nadu 6-3, 6-0.
Other results in the women's category included Harshini Nagaraj of Karnataka defeating Suhani Gaur of Rajasthan 6-1, 6-2. Lakshmi Dowda of Delhi won against Hridayeshi B Pai of Karnataka 5-1 after the latter retired.
In the men's singles second round, Oges Theyjo Jaya Prakash of Tamil Nadu beat Amit Moond of Rajasthan 6-1, 6-1. V Dhiraj Reddy and G Naishik Reddy, both from Telangana, also progressed after defeating Krishna Teja Raja of Tamil Nadu and Antariksh Pratap Ajay Verma of Rajasthan respectively.
Additional men's results saw Prasad Ingale of Maharashtra defeat D Akhil Kumar Reddy of Telangana 6-4, 6-0, while Mayand Tewary of West Bengal beat Eric Nithilan of Karnataka 7-5, 6-4.
