Prithvi Shaw says India comeback is always at the back of his mind
The Maharashtra opener prefers to focus on the present after last playing for the national side five years ago.
Prithvi Shaw said on Thursday that a comeback to the Indian national side is always a thought at the back of his mind, though he prefers to focus on the present. The batter was speaking to reporters in Kolkata after Maharashtra defeated hosts Bengal by 10 wickets in a Ranji Trophy match.
According to The Indian Express, Shaw last played for India five years ago. He stated that based on his experience, he should not think too far ahead and instead aims to keep winning games, training well, and eating well.
The opener has recorded two half-centuries in seven innings during this Ranji Trophy season. His highest score of 70 came against Delhi in Maharashtra's opening match, while his subsequent returns were 7, 21, 0, 17, and 12.
Shaw noted that while some innings go badly and others go well, he does not take much tension. He said his batting is good and nothing is going wrong, suggesting it is just a matter of one innings.
The batter, who moved from Mumbai to play for Maharashtra last year, said he is enjoying his current phase. He mentioned feeling comfortable due to the proximity of Pune to Mumbai and his existing bonds with players like Ritu Gaikwad and Ankit Bawne.
