Delhi Police question CJP leaders over Jantar Mantar protest
Cockroach Janta Party leaders were questioned for four hours regarding two FIRs involving an October 13 protest.
Delhi Police Crime Branch officers questioned Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka, and Ajinkya Shinde on Thursday. According to Telangana Today, the leaders appeared at the Crime Branch office in Rajouri Garden at approximately 11 am regarding two FIRs related to a protest at Jantar Mantar on October 13.
The questioning lasted about four hours and concluded around 3 pm. Police sources stated that around 70 questions were posed to the leaders, though they did not answer some of them. The interrogation was conducted by officers of the inspector rank.
The FIRs were originally registered at the Connaught Place and Parliament Street police stations before being transferred to the Crime Branch. The cases involve allegations of violating restrictions at the denotified protest site and illegal trespass through private property to reach Jantar Mantar.
During the October 13 incident, the CJP members allegedly staged a protest and unfurled the national flag at the site. The leaders had previously been summoned for the probe but requested more time and did not appear.
Speaking to reporters after the session, Ashutosh Ranka described the process as a routine investigation. He stated that the party would cooperate with the probe and expressed his view that unfurling the Tiranga should not be considered a crime.
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
