SBI, M&M and EPL report profit growth in second quarter

State Bank of India, Mahindra & Mahindra and speciality packager EPL all recorded higher net profits for the September quarter.

State Bank of India (SBI) reported a 14.3 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 23,038 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, according to News18. The country's largest lender saw its net interest income rise 14.7 per cent year-on-year to Rs 49,142 crore.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) also posted higher earnings, with consolidated net profit growing 25 per cent to Rs 4,588 crore for the second quarter, Moneycontrol reported. The automaker's revenue rose 25 per cent to Rs 57,553 crore, supported by its automotive business.

M&M Group CEO and Managing Director Anish Shah said the auto segment grew due to strong consumer demand, though the farm business saw a marginal decline because of a shift in the festive season.

Speciality packaging firm EPL saw its consolidated net profit rise 4.52 per cent to Rs 110.9 crore for the September quarter, according to The Economic Times. Revenue from operations for the company reached Rs 1,567.4 crore, up from Rs 1,205.9 crore in the same period last year.

EPL MD and Global CEO Hemant Bakshi noted that the Beauty & Cosmetics category grew by over 40 per cent. The company stated that profit growth was impacted by higher depreciation, foreign exchange losses, and a lower profit in Europe.

On the asset quality front, SBI reported a gross non-performing assets ratio of 1.39 per cent and a net non-performing assets ratio of 0.36 per cent for the quarter.
