Gujarat Giants sign 16-year-old Samaira Raghav for Rs 10 lakh for WPL 2027 season

The all-rounder expressed her desire to learn from players like Ashleigh Gardner and Smriti Mandhana after being picked by the franchise.

All-rounder Samaira Raghav has been signed by the Gujarat Giants (GG) for Rs 10 lakh ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2027 season, according to The Tribune and ANI.

The 16-year-old recently featured in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) with the North Delhi Strikers, where she scored 100 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 131.58.

Raghav also played for Delhi in the U19 T20 Trophy this year, scoring 162 runs across seven innings with a strike rate of 216.

Speaking to ANI, Raghav said her first reaction to being picked was screaming and that she immediately called her family and coaches.

She noted that her father motivated her to join a cricket academy in her initial days and cited Pratika Rawal, Shweta Sehrawat, and Tanisha Singh as her greatest motivations.

Raghav expressed interest in learning from Ashleigh Gardner's six-hitting abilities and routines, as well as the calmness of Smriti Mandhana and the knowledge of Harmanpreet Kaur.

She also mentioned wanting to learn from wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh regarding her ability to hit massive sixes.
