Mahabubnagar official and typist arrested for allegedly taking ₹1 lakh bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau apprehended the District Youth and Sports Officer and a contract typist in Telangana on Thursday.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Jakku Rajasekhar Reddy, a District Youth and Sports Officer (DYSO), and contract-based typist Gorre Umesh in Mahabubnagar on Thursday, according to The Hindu.

The duo allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of ₹1 lakh to process and approve pending catering bills.

The ACB stated the bribe was requested to arrange a ₹3.10 lakh cheque for an August 2026 catering bill related to food supplied to sportspersons at the Volleyball Hostel of the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) in Mahabubnagar.

Officials recovered the ₹1 lakh from Reddy, who reportedly accepted the money for himself and Umesh based on a prior agreement to share the amount.

The ACB said the accused used their official roles to gain an undue advantage. Both individuals were arrested and will appear before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally for judicial remand.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
