Dacoit Kalli Gurjar arrested in Morena encounter
The wanted criminal sustained a leg injury during the shootout and was apprehended alongside an associate.
Chambal dacoit Kalli Gurjar and his associate Ajay Gurjar were arrested in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district on Thursday following a police encounter, according to the Hindustan Times.
A Banmore police team reached a forest area near Pahadi village around 10 am on a tip-off. Superintendent of Police Dharmaraj Meena said the Kalli gang opened fire, leading police to retaliate in self-defence. Gurjar sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the exchange.
Police recovered a pistol and a firearm from Kalli, while Ajay Gurjar was found with a 12-bore gun and 50 live cartridges. Gurjar was taken to a district hospital for medical examination, where doctors stated his condition is out of danger.
The accused is wanted by Rajasthan police and faces approximately 20 serious criminal cases, including murder, robbery, dacoity, and attempt to murder, across Morena, Gwalior, and Sheopur districts. A reward of Rs 80,000 had been announced for his arrest.
Gurjar frequently used social media to post videos threatening rivals. About three months ago, he and his accomplices allegedly attempted to extort a container truck driver on the Agra-Mumbai National Highway in Gwalior. The group reportedly arrived in an unregistered white Bolero and fired shots that burst all 12 tyres of the vehicle after the driver refused to pay.
