Maharashtra police reduce Dial 112 response time to three minutes, says Fadnavis
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate is the fastest in the country for emergency response.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday that police teams are reaching emergency locations within an average of three minutes after receiving calls through the Dial 112 service. Speaking at the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate in Pune district, Fadnavis claimed Maharashtra has emerged as the leading state in the country for police response times.
According to reports from Business Today and Hindustan Times, Fadnavis inaugurated several technology-driven policing initiatives at the G D Madgulkar auditorium. These projects include 65 new police vehicles, 350 body-worn cameras, and four drones to assist with patrolling and surveillance.
The Chief Minister, who also holds the state Home portfolio, said digital monitoring systems are being used to track officer conduct and response times. He noted that every call is recorded and the system captures the exact time a call is received and when personnel arrive at the location.
Fadnavis said the digital footprint makes it difficult for personnel to provide inaccurate information regarding their movements. He added that recorded calls allow senior officials to examine whether officers dealt appropriately with people seeking help.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the launch of a CCTV network and the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS). He mentioned that the AI-based ‘Tapaas Sarathi’ system would use blockchain technology to support investigations from case registration to filing chargesheets.
