Jharkhand police issue statewide alert over Maoist activity
The Jharkhand Police Headquarters has directed officials to increase surveillance following reports that the CPI (Maoist) plans events in November.
The Jharkhand Police Headquarters has issued a statewide alert after receiving intelligence that the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit plans to observe several events over three weeks in November, according to The New Indian Express.
The Inspector General of Police (Operations), Jharkhand, sent a confidential letter on November 5, 2026, directing all district Superintendents of Police (SPs) to increase surveillance and strengthen security measures.
The communication stated that the organisation is preparing to observe ‘Khooni Kranti Saptah’ from November 8 to 15, ‘Daman Virodhi Saptah’ from November 16 to 22, and ‘Shaheed Saptah’ from November 24 to 30.
Police expressed concern that the group might target security force installations, government offices, banks, financial institutions, and Forest Department offices, as well as communication services and public transport systems.
The directive also highlighted the need to protect railway premises, roads, bridges, culverts, and local markets. Officials were told to verify any reported incidents thoroughly, as the letter noted that Maoists have previously orchestrated minor incidents to lure police forces.
The instructions, which referenced a November 4 letter from the Superintendent of Police (Special Branch), include strengthening intelligence-sharing in affected areas and ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
