Tamil Nadu Registration Department revenue reaches Rs 1,950 crore in October
Minister D Lokesh Tamilselvan chaired a performance review meeting in Chennai to discuss revenue growth and the faceless registration system.
The Tamil Nadu Registration Department collected Rs 1,950 crore in revenue during October 2026, according to Urban Acres. This figure represents a rise of Rs 147 crore compared to the same month in the previous financial year, officials stated following a review meeting in Chennai.
Minister D Lokesh Tamilselvan chaired the October review at the North Chennai district registrar’s office on Wednesday. The meeting included deputy inspectors general of registration, district registrars, district revenue officers, special deputy collectors, and assistant executive engineers.
The minister noted that 2,46,260 documents had been registered through the state's faceless and contactless document registration system up to November 3. This digital system was launched by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on August 17, 2026, to process transactions such as first-sale registrations, title deed deposits, and loan receipts.
During the session, Tamilselvan instructed district registrars to clear pending files and ensure that registered documents are released on the same day. He also directed officials to prevent revenue leakage and work toward meeting the state's financial targets.
The minister recently inaugurated an artificial intelligence-driven application to monitor cases involving the department in the Supreme Court and High Courts. Officials said the tool would assist in preparing counter-affidavits more quickly to expedite legal proceedings.
The department aims to continue using the contactless registration system, maintain same-day document release, and improve the handling of legal cases.
