Chennai civic body removes cutouts of Vijay and Jagan Mohan Reddy
Greater Chennai Corporation workers cleared large structures in MRC Nagar that violated laws regulating public spaces ahead of a high-profile wedding.
Civic staff in Chennai's MRC Nagar removed large cutouts featuring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP supremo Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday, according to Moneycontrol.
The cutouts were erected by YSRCP followers to welcome Reddy and Vijay for a family wedding of the former Chief Minister. It has not been officially confirmed if Vijay will attend the event.
An official stated that the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) workers moved to clear the structures because they directly violated strict laws regulating public spaces. The move was in sync with a state policy decision to remove structures that hinder the public.
The official added that the GCC has actively deployed workers across city zones to remove public banners and dangerous hoarding frames, noting that this coincides with the northeast monsoon.
