Delhi: Traffic restrictions near Indira Gandhi Stadium on Thursday evening
The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for commuters to avoid certain routes between 4 pm and 6 pm.
Vehicular movement in parts of central Delhi will be restricted on Thursday, November 5, due to a programme organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, according to an India TV report.
The Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys between 4 pm and 6 pm to avoid delays. Movement on Secretariat Road and Velodrome Road will be limited starting from 4 pm.
Several major roads may face diversions or regulations, including Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Ring Road), IP Marg, and Vikas Marg. Specific stretches such as the Salimgarh Bypass from Geeta Colony Flyover towards IP Flyover and the W-Point to Delhi Gate area are also expected to be affected.
Parking will be prohibited on Secretariat Road, Velodrome Road, IP Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Vikas Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Ring Road, Salimgarh Bypass, and Power House Road during the restriction period. This measure aims to prevent congestion near the stadium.
Commuters travelling to the airport or New Delhi Railway Station have been urged to allow extra time for their trips. The police have requested motorists to follow instructions from personnel on the ground and use alternative routes where possible.
