Seven injured as fire guts Kia showroom in south Delhi

Authorities rescued between 12 and 15 people from the Saidulajab building after a blaze damaged several vehicles.

A fire broke out at a Kia car showroom in the Saidulajab area of south Delhi on Friday afternoon, injuring seven people and damaging several vehicles, according to reports by Moneycontrol, The Hindu and Hindustan Times.

District Magistrate Lakshya Singhal said the administration received information about the fire at approximately 3.45 pm. The blaze occurred at the showroom located opposite the Saket Metro Station.

Emergency teams rescued between 12 and 15 people from the building. Rescuers used ladders against adjacent buildings to evacuate individuals from upper floors, while local residents also assisted in the operation.

Of the seven injured, four were taken to MAX Hospital and three were admitted to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital. Hindustan Times reported that eight people, including two police personnel, were injured, but all have since been discharged.

The Delhi Fire Services initially dispatched 10 fire tenders to the spot following an emergency call at 3.47 pm. Multiple agencies, including the Delhi Police, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS), were involved in the response.

Singhal stated that the fire has been brought under control, but a search operation is underway to check if anyone remains trapped. While one official suggested a short circuit may have caused the fire, the exact cause is yet to be determined.
