Fire breaks out at Gaffar Market in Delhi's Karol Bagh

Twenty-two fire tenders were deployed to control a blaze at a mobile accessories shop in the commercial area.

A fire broke out at a shop in Puri Plaza, located in the 13 Block of Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh, during the early hours of Friday, according to ANI and Hindustan Times.

The blaze started at approximately 1.30 am in a ground-floor shop where mobile batteries were kept, before spreading through the four-storey commercial building.

Fire service officials responded to the incident with 22 fire tenders, three CAT ambulances, and two PCR vehicles. The fire has since been brought under control, and while property damage was reported, no injuries or deaths have been recorded.

Preliminary assessments suggest that the overheating or overcharging of batteries may have caused the fire. A report will be obtained from the Fire Department and the Electrical Inspector to determine the exact cause, and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team will examine the building for other combustible materials.

In a separate incident on Thursday, a fire occurred at an institute on Mangal Bazar Road in Laxmi Nagar. Fire officer Deepak Hooda said the department received a call at around 5.50 am and dispatched 4-5 fire tenders, noting that no injuries were reported.
