Delhi Traffic Police implement curbs around Anand Vihar ISBT for festivals
Special traffic arrangements are in place from November 5 to 15 to manage passenger surges during the festive season.
The Delhi Traffic Police have introduced special traffic arrangements around the Anand Vihar interstate bus terminal (ISBT) and nearby transport hubs from November 5 to 15. According to reports from The Hindu and Hindustan Times, these measures aim to manage the expected increase in passenger movement during Dhanteras, Diwali, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath Puja.
The restrictions target arterial routes including Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg (Road No. 56) and Swami Dayanand Marg (Road No. 57). Traffic diversions will be enforced at the Ghazipur roundabout and Ramprastha in Vivek Vihar to prevent congestion near the terminal and railway stations.
Commuters heading towards NH-24, Sarai Kale Khan, and Barapulla are suggested to use the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway via GT Road. Those travelling to Ghaziabad and Dilshad Garden should also use the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway near Akshardham via GT Road.
Parking, waiting, or halting of all vehicles—including buses, taxis, autorickshaws, and private cars—is prohibited on both sides of Road No. 56, especially near the ISBT entry and exit gates. Drivers may use available parking at the Kaushambi Road DDA land near NH-24 or near the Maruti showroom on Kaushambi Road.
The police advisory warns that leaving vehicles unattended on approach roads may lead to towing or prosecution. Commuters are encouraged to use public transport and plan journeys to avoid the ISBT area.
