UP government approves 30-day bonus for state employees before Diwali
Non-gazetted staff and daily-wage workers will receive festive payments for the 2025–26 financial year.
The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has sanctioned a 30-day bonus for qualifying state employees for the 2025–26 financial year, according to ANI. The decision comes ahead of the Diwali festival to provide financial assistance to thousands of workers.
An official government order states that the bonus applies to non-gazetted state employees, as well as eligible staff from district panchayats, local bodies, and educational institutions. Daily-wage workers are also included, with a bonus amount of up to Rs 1,184.
Under the new payment structure, 25 per cent of the bonus will be distributed in cash, while the other 75 per cent will go into the Provident Fund (PF) accounts of employees. However, those who have retired or are nearing retirement will get the full amount in cash.
Chief Minister Adityanath also encouraged citizens to support the state's artisans by purchasing One District One Product (ODOP) items for Dhanteras. He noted that following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Vocal for Local' vision can help create a self-reliant Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister described Dhanteras as a time of prosperity and urged people to include skilled craftspeople in their celebrations. He stated that buying from these families can provide them with dignity and self-reliance.
