Telangana to launch saree distribution and life insurance schemes

The state government will begin the second phase of the saree programme and a new insurance scheme on November 19.

The Telangana government decided on Thursday to launch a life insurance scheme and the second phase of a free saree distribution programme on November 19. According to BusinessLine, these initiatives will coincide with the birth anniversary of the late prime minister Indira Gandhi.

Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy stated that the programmes will commence at the district headquarters town of Siddipet. He said the 'Indiramma' Jeevita Beema scheme will formally accept applications at Gram Panchayat and wards, while the second phase of 'Indiramma' saree distribution will also start in Siddipet.

The state cabinet has also decided to form separate commissions for SCs and STs, replacing the single SC, ST Commission that has been functioning in the state. Minister Reddy noted that the government aims to make Telangana compete with other states and countries.

Ministers and senior officials will be assigned responsibilities for the 'Invest Telangana Global Summit' on December 7, 8 and 9. Additionally, Reddy said that all tests regarding repairs to the Kaleshwaram project damages suggested by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) will be completed.

The minister added that repairs to the barrages of the Kaleshwaram project will be carried out transparently.
