Bihar government prohibits unauthorised social media reels in schools

The state has issued new regulations for teachers, non-teaching staff and students regarding social media use.

The Bihar government on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, imposed new regulations for school teachers, non-teaching staff and students, according to The Hindu.

The instructions prohibit these individuals from making or uploading reels on social media without permission from the concerned authorities.

This follows a decision made on October 30, 2026, when the Department enforced a formal dress code for the same groups.

The state has approximately 76,335 government schools, including 47,000 primary schools, 25,000 upper primary schools and around 5,000 higher secondary schools.

There are about 6.6 lakh government school teachers employed across these institutions.

The new BJP-led NDA government recently initiated a project to paint 551 government-model schools with saffron colour, stating they would be equipped with modern facilities.
