UP PCS officer Anupama Saroj Singh resigns to enter politics

The former deputy commissioner of GST intends to transition into public life after considering leaving government service for 10 years.

Anupama Saroj Singh, a former deputy commissioner of GST, has submitted her resignation to the government to pursue a political career, according to The Times of India.

In a video message shared on social media, Singh stated that she wants to represent the people but realised this was not possible while remaining in service.

Singh, who is the daughter of former MP Saroj Singh and wife of Samajwadi Party spokesperson Anurag Bhadauria, said she had been thinking about leaving her government role for a decade.

She noted that she had observed public problems closely during her time in administration and felt there was a limit to what could be achieved while in service.

The officer, also known as Anupama Raag for her music career, said she intends to become the change she seeks and highlighted the importance of women in public life.

Singh clarified that her intention was not to cause controversy with her announcement and has not yet indicated which political party she may join.
