Brittany Mahomes faces criticism over comments on Chiefs penalty controversy

Former NFL player Chad Johnson and Travis Kelce defended the officiating decision that cancelled a touchdown during the Chiefs' loss to the Broncos.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost 28-24 to the Denver Broncos on November 1, a game decided by a controversial penalty. Officials called a false start against right tackle Jaylon Moore during a fourth-and-goal play, which cancelled a touchdown by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and receiver Rashee Rice.

According to the Times of India, Brittany Mahomes expressed her frustration on Instagram regarding the decision. However, former Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Johnson disagreed with her assessment while speaking on the 'Nightcap' podcast with Shannon Sharpe.

Johnson stated that he saw the replay and believed Moore flinched, noting that while a referee might show restraint in such moments, the movement was clear. Travis Kelce also supported this view on the 'New Heights' podcast, stating, "Yeah, he flinches."

Patrick Mahomes told reporters he had not reviewed the footage but said he was not surprised by the call. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he saw Moore move his head but did not see the specific movement.

The Chiefs finished the game with 11 flags for 105 yards. The defeat left the team with a 5-2 record, placing them behind Denver in the AFC West standings.
