J&K government sanctions 5 per cent annual increment for NHM staff
The benefit applies to eligible contractual employees across state, divisional, district and block levels for the 2026-27 financial year.
The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved a 5 per cent yearly pay increase for eligible contractual workers under the National Health Mission (NHM) for the 2026-27 financial year, according to the Kashmir Observer.
The order, issued by NHM Mission Director Athar Aamir Khan, includes staff at the state, divisional, district and block levels. This covers those working in various disease control programmes and the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM).
The decision follows the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's approval of the NHM State Programme Implementation Plan (SPIP) 2026-27 on June 19, 2026. Drawing and Disbursing Officers must verify qualifying service and performance before granting the increment.
Staff who finished one year of service by March 31, 2026, will receive the raise starting April 1, 2026. Those completing one year between April 1 and September 30, 2026, will get it from October 1, 2026. Employees completing one year after September 30 will see the benefit from April 1, 2027.
Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo stated on X that the move recognises the dedication of NHM employees. She added that the government is committed to healthcare worker welfare under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
