Manipur launches Northeast's first AI-enabled career intelligence hub in Imphal

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated the facility to provide technology-driven guidance and counselling for students.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated the Northeast's first artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled Career Intelligence Hub at Tamphasana Girls' Higher Secondary School in Imphal on Saturday. According to reports from NENow and The Hindu, the facility was established using funds from the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).

The hub aims to integrate advanced technology into the state's education system by offering personalised counselling and information regarding new employment paths. Chief Minister Singh stated that AI is rapidly changing various professional sectors globally and noted that the centre will assist students in evaluating their talents and preparing for future jobs.

During the event, Singh also opened the 32nd National Children's Science Congress, which is being organised by the Manipur Upliftment Centre and Samagra Shiksha Manipur. The Science Congress features 39 student group leaders from 12 districts across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised students for showing restraint and avoiding protests during regional disruptions over the last eight months. He encouraged the public to use peaceful dialogue and diplomacy to achieve lasting peace in Manipur instead of resorting to street agitations.

The Chief Minister also recognised Imphal West and Pherzawl districts for reaching 'surakshit' status in October under a National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) initiative. This status indicates that 95 per cent of people living with HIV in those districts are aware of their status, are receiving antiretroviral therapy, and have achieved viral suppression.
