Armed group allegedly attacks house in Amritsar village

A dispute between two factions led to a confrontation in Akalgarh Dhapian village, leaving one man with a gunshot wound.

A large group of armed men allegedly besieged a residence in Akalgarh Dhapian village, under the Jandiala police limits in Amritsar, before opening fire, according to Odisha Bytes.

The confrontation, which occurred between 1.30 pm and 2 pm, reportedly stemmed from a long-standing rivalry between two sides. Sandeep Singh sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and injuries from sharp-edged weapons during the incident.

Vishal Singh, a relative of the injured man, alleged that between 100 and 150 people arrived at the house with pistols, 12-bore guns, kirpans, and datars. He claimed the assault was planned and named Maninder, Gurmukh, and Kuki from the Tarn Taran/Tarapur area, as well as Akash and several unidentified men, as being responsible.

The family also claimed that six or seven people were injured during the commotion. The family reportedly cultivates 50 to 70 acres of land on lease in the village.

Officer Harpal Singh visited Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, where Sandeep Singh was taken for medical care, along with a team and village panchayat representatives. He confirmed that a clash broke out and gunfire was reported.

Police are currently recording statements from the injured and the victim's family to register an FIR. Harpal Singh said investigators will examine the number of rounds fired and empty cartridges found at the scene, adding that strict legal action will be taken against those involved.
