A passenger discovered a note in the aircraft toilet claiming the plane would be hijacked at 6.30 pm on Saturday.
An IndiGo flight travelling from Bengaluru to Lucknow returned to Kempegowda International Airport on Saturday evening after a hijacking note was found in a toilet.
The aircraft, flight 6E 451, took off around 5.50 pm with 178 passengers on board, according to the Times of India.
A passenger found the note approximately 30 minutes after take-off and alerted the cabin crew, who then informed the pilot.
The note stated, 'This plane is going to get hijacked exactly at 6.30'.
A senior police officer said that security agencies conducted a thorough search lasting 90 minutes and declared the note a hoax.
An IndiGo spokesperson said the pilots decided to return to the origin to carry out security checks as per protocol and that the flight continued its journey later that night.
