Sharad Pawar discharged from Mumbai hospital after treatment for infection
The 85-year-old NCP (SP) chief will continue his recovery at home following a bronchitis attack and chest infection.
NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar was discharged from Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday. The 85-year-old politician had been under medical observation for the last three days to treat a chest infection and a bronchitis attack, according to the Times of India.
Dr Pritam Samdani, the treating doctor, stated that Pawar is in a stable condition and is responding well to the medical care provided. The doctor noted that the patient's health has improved and he has been advised to follow medication and standard precautions at his residence.
Pawar was initially admitted to the Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on November 2 and left that facility on November 4. He was admitted to the Mumbai hospital on the same day for further treatment.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the hospital to check on Pawar's health. Shinde told reporters that the NCP (SP) leader was recovering well and that his medical parameters were normal.
During his stay, Shinde said Pawar discussed matters regarding water shortages, drought-hit regions, and farmers, including in Mahabaleshwar and Satara. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Pawar by phone to enquire about his health.
Several others visited the hospital, including Congress leaders Sushilkumar Shinde and Balasaheb Thorat, NCP leader Dilip Walse-Patil, industrialist Gautam Adani, and NCP leader Praful Patel.
