Singer Jewel helps develop youth mental health programme
The Inspiring Children Foundation's digital tools have reached over 1.6 million users, according to the Times of India.
Singer-songwriter Jewel has helped create a youth-focused mental health programme that integrates emotional wellbeing, education and life skills. The initiative, developed through a partnership with the Inspiring Children Foundation, provides resources to help young people manage difficult emotions and build healthier relationships.
According to the Times of India, the foundation's digital mental health tools have reached more than 1.6 million users. The organisation, which has operated for over 25 years, works with children and families from various socio-economic backgrounds to address issues such as depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
The programme, known as Jewel Never Broken, uses the singer's personal experiences of hardship to provide practical tools for participants. The foundation describes its approach as a whole-human programme that addresses physical, social, emotional and mental health together.
The foundation's leadership programme includes approximately 150 students. The Inspiring Children Foundation stated that 95 per cent of these students have received college scholarship offers for athletics and academic achievement.
To engage young people, the organisation utilises various methods including project-based learning, entrepreneurship, leadership training, tennis and mentoring. The foundation's approach is currently being replicated by non-profit organisations in 22 cities.
