Stephen Miller will replace Susie Wiles in the role following Republican losses in the midterm elections.
US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that his longtime aide Stephen Miller will become the new White House chief of staff. According to the Times of India, Miller is scheduled to take over the position on Monday, November 9, 2026.
Miller, who currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and a homeland security adviser, will replace Susie Wiles. Trump shared the news on his social media platform, Truth Social, describing Miller as one of his most trusted advisers.
Trump praised Wiles for her work, stating she had performed excellently and would transition to his political organisation. Wiles confirmed on X that Friday would be her final day in the role, though she noted her commitment to the President remains unchanged.
The leadership change follows a setback for Republicans in the midterm elections on Tuesday, where the party lost control of Congress. Wiles, who was the longest-serving chief of staff during Trump's presidency, had previously disclosed a breast cancer diagnosis in March 2026.
Miller has been a central figure in the administration, previously serving as a speechwriter during the 2016 campaign. He has been involved in shaping immigration policies and the administration's deportation agenda.
