Gurnoor Brar records second-best ODI bowling figures by Indian pacer in New Zealand

The fast bowler took 4/30 in Wellington to help India secure a four-wicket win and a 2-0 series lead.

Gurnoor Brar claimed figures of 4/30 in the second ODI against New Zealand at Hnry Stadium in Wellington on Saturday, according to the Times of India. His performance represents the second-best ODI bowling figures by an Indian fast bowler in New Zealand, trailing only Javagal Srinath's 4/23 recorded in Auckland in 2003.

The 29-year-old pacer helped bowl New Zealand out for 134 in 41 overs during the rain-affected match. Brar took two wickets in a maiden over, dismissing Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips with successive short-pitched deliveries to leave the hosts at 53/5.

Other Indian bowlers contributed to the total as Auqib Nabi took 2/31 and Anshul Kamboj took 2/25. Arshdeep Singh bowled an economical spell of 0/16 in seven overs, while the Indian bowling attack sent down 176 dot balls.

In response, India faced challenges from New Zealand pacers, with Jacob Duffy dismissing Shubman Gill for a duck and Virat Kohli for seven. Shreyas Iyer scored 30, while KL Rahul remained 26 not out when rain interrupted play at 113/7.

At the time of the interruption, India was four runs ahead of the DLS par score of 109. The team secured a four-wicket victory to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
