Hardik Pandya to join Punjab Kings in trade for Arshdeep Singh
Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have agreed to a player swap that requires BCCI approval before official confirmation.
Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have agreed to a trade that will see all-rounder Hardik Pandya move to Punjab Kings in exchange for pacer Arshdeep Singh, according to reports from Telegraph India and ThePrint.
The deal, which is currently being finalised, requires ratification from the BCCI. If completed, the move will end Pandya's second stint with Mumbai Indians, where he served as captain for three seasons.
An IPL source stated that the trade has been completed and that Pandya is happy to play under Shreyas Iyer, who will remain the captain of Punjab Kings. Pandya is expected to join the franchise as a player.
The decision to trade Arshdeep Singh was made by the Punjab Kings captain and coach. The source noted that while it was not an easy choice for the owners due to the bowler's long association and success with the franchise, the leadership proceeded with the move.
Arshdeep Singh, who is currently India's leading wicket-taker in the shortest format, will join Mumbai Indians. The franchise is looking to strengthen its fast-bowling department following a ninth-place finish in the 2026 season.
Punjab Kings aims to use Pandya's batting and seam bowling to improve their balance. However, the player has been away from competitive cricket since the last IPL season because of various injuries.
The BCCI has extended the player retention deadline to November 17. This provides time for formalities before the mini-auction, which is scheduled for December 16 in Goa.
