Two-wheeler retail sales in India fall 28.35 per cent in October 2026
Total two-wheeler registrations dropped to 23,21,419 units as festive celebrations shifted to November.
Two-wheeler retail sales in India declined by 28.35 per cent year-on-year in October 2026, with total registrations reaching 23,21,419 units. According to RushLane, the decline was primarily due to a shift in the festive calendar, as Dhanteras and Diwali moved to November despite Navratri occurring in October.
The overall automotive retail market also saw a sharp decline. While October 2026 was the second-best October on record for two-wheeler sales, demand in rural areas was impacted by deficient rainfall and a weak Kharif crop, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
Petrol and ethanol-powered models accounted for 90.30 per cent of total sales, while electric two-wheelers held a 9.65 per cent share. On a month-on-month basis, sales actually improved by 29.67 per cent from the 17,90,188 units recorded in September 2026.
Honda led the market with 6,37,630 units sold, representing a 27.47 per cent market share. Hero MotoCorp sales fell to 5,98,433 units from 10,06,796 units in October 2025, while TVS Motor sales dipped to 4,58,303 units.
In the electric segment, TVS Motor recorded the highest sales with 60,490 units. Bajaj Auto followed with 49,126 units, while Ather recorded 31,833 units. Ola Electric sales fell to 12,098 units, a decrease from both the previous month and October 2025.
