Army chief reviews operational readiness at Western Command

Gen Dhiraj Seth discussed technology absorption and jointness with senior commanders during a meeting in Chandigarh.

Army chief Gen Dhiraj Seth reviewed the security situation with top commanders at the Western Command headquarters in Chandimandir, Chandigarh, according to the Daily Excelsior. The meeting included senior officers from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force.

Gen Seth evaluated the command's readiness to handle security threats and discussed ways to improve combat abilities. He emphasised the importance of integrating resources and planning across different military domains to maintain an operational advantage.

The review included the situation along the International Border (IB) with Pakistan, which covers the Jammu region and Pathankot in Punjab. While the Border Security Force (BSF) guards the IB and no recent major infiltrations have been reported, drone threats remain a significant challenge.

Gen Seth highlighted the need to adopt modern technologies and continuous capability development. He spoke about his "JAI se VIJAY" vision, which focuses on border vigilance, innovation, jointness, Atmanirbharta, and the Yodha First priority.

In a separate development, Northern Command chief Lt Gen Pratik Sharma visited soldiers at the Siachen Glacier in Ladakh. The visit took place on the eve of Diwali to extend festive greetings to personnel stationed at the glacier.
