Ayodhya celebrates 10th Deepotsav with 36 lakh earthen lamps lit
The city illuminated 56 ghats along the Saryu river with nearly 10 lakh more lamps than the previous year.
Ayodhya celebrated its 10th edition of Deepotsav on Saturday with over 36 lakh earthen lamps lit along the banks of the Saryu river, according to Telangana Today.
The illumination took place across 56 ghats, including Ram Ki Paidi. This year's count is nearly 10 lakh more than the 26,17,215 lamps lit during the 2025 event, which set two Guinness World Records.
Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lit lamps at Ram Ki Paidi. The dignitaries also witnessed a laser show with 3D holographic projection mapping and live performances organised by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and cabinet members performed rituals at Ram Katha Park, offering prayers to Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughna, Hanuman, and sages. Adityanath, along with saints and ministers, also participated in a symbolic coronation of Lord Ram.
The celebrations included a ceremonial arrival of Lord Ram, Lakshman, and Sita in a symbolic Pushpak Viman, with flowers showered from a helicopter. A drone show depicting scenes from the Ramayana and a fireworks display were also part of the event.
More than 35,000 volunteers from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, various colleges, and voluntary organisations assisted in arranging the lamps and facilitating the lighting across the ghats.
