Revanth Reddy accuses KTR of driving sister out over family property

The Telangana chief minister claimed BRS leader KT Rama Rao forced his sister out of the home due to property disputes.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday accused Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao of driving his sister out of the family home because of an unwillingness to share property. Speaking at a meeting of women Self-Help Group (SHG) members in his Kodangal assembly constituency, Reddy made the remarks, according to reports by The Times of India, Deccan Chronicle and Siasat.

Reddy was referring to K Kavitha, who was jailed in connection with the Delhi excise policy case and subsequently suspended from the BRS in September 2025. Kavitha later launched her own political outfit, the Telangana Rakshana Sena, in April 2026.

The chief minister questioned the credibility of KTR's comments regarding women's welfare, noting that KTR should have looked after his sister after she spent six months in jail. He also criticised former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, alleging the father failed to advise his son to care for his sister.

Reddy further questioned if a person who cannot teach good things to family members can do good for the four crore people of Telangana. He also accused K Chandrashekar Rao of treating the state unfairly during his 10-year tenure as chief minister.

Regarding women's welfare, Reddy stated that the number of SHG members has risen from 60 lakh in December 2023 to 70 lakh. He said the government aims to expand this to one crore members by 2034 and will launch the second phase of 'Indiramma' saree distribution on November 19.
