Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will visit villages to mitigate El Nino-induced drought issues after the Sankranthi festival.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Saturday that the state will launch the ‘Praja Balam’ (People’s Strength) programme after the Sankranthi festival. According to reports from The New Indian Express and ANI, the initiative will involve the Chief Minister visiting every village to interact with residents to address problems caused by El Nino-induced drought.
Speaking at the launch of the Rythu Mela and Industrial Expo in Kodangal, Revanth Reddy urged farmers to grow dryland crops during the upcoming Rabi season. He requested Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to hold a special two-day Assembly session to debate the impacts of El Nino, the Kaleshwaram project, the proposed Tummidhatti project, and the management of Godavari river waters.
The Chief Minister accused the previous BRS government of failing to complete irrigation projects in Palamuru district, specifically naming Kalwakurthy, Bhima, Nettempadu, Koilsagar, Makthal, Kodangal, and Narayanpet. He further alleged that former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) had sought to delay a CBI probe into Kaleshwaram irregularities by approaching the central government.
Revanth Reddy also claimed that KCR altered project designs to secure commissions and blamed the BRS for the Medigadda barrage collapse. He stated that the government is prepared to present evidence against the KCR family during the proposed Assembly session.
Regarding regional development, the Chief Minister announced works worth Rs 10,000 crore for Kodangal and its surrounding areas over the next 10 years. He also noted that he would lay foundation stones for projects valued at Rs 9,100 crore during his three-day visit to the area.
