The Union Home Minister held a high-level meeting in Ahmedabad to discuss law and order, cybercrime, and narcotics control.

Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah held a high-level meeting in Ahmedabad on November 7 to review law and order and public safety ahead of Diwali. According to The News Mill, the session included Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and officials from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and various security agencies.

The discussions covered several topics including cybercrime, police modernisation, border and coastal security, narcotics control, and counter-terrorism. Shah provided guidance on issues such as economic offences, the drought situation, farmers' concerns, and encroachment removal.

Senior officials updated the Union Minister on matters including Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases, narcotics (NDPS) cases, and the implementation of the Integrated Criminal Justice System. They also reported on the status of illegal Bangladeshi nationals and the use of technological applications like e-Sakshya.

Cybercrime strategies were reviewed, focusing on the 1930 helpline, the deployment of Cyber Commandos, and the model Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) structure. Other topics included the Census, the Agniveer scheme, and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

To reach the goal of a drug-free India by 2029, Shah instructed that rigorous steps be taken to regulate narcotics and intoxicating substances in Gujarat. He called for an action plan, the expansion of the 1933 control room, and intensive enforcement drives alongside social awareness programmes.
